Who ?

The association Konferenzdolmetschen – Vergangenheit, Gegenwart, Zukunft e.V. was founded by members of the German Region of AIIC (Association Internationale des Interprètes de Conférence/International Association of Conference Interpreters). They were seeking a stable legal framework for their ventures aimed at spreading knowledge about conference interpreting as a profession and enhancing its visibility and reputation.

Current activities initiated by AIIC members include bar camps, events about art and culture in various languages, continuing professional development and - especially important in the face of the coronavirus pandemic - the AIIC Solidarity Fund.

The trigger for founding the association was the need to establish a robust legal framework for a project begun in 2013 to research and exhibit the lives of simultaneous interpreters at the Nuremberg Trials, their working conditions and the development of our profession.

As the Satzung declares this non-profit association is founded on the same ethical principles as AIIC and it will pursue these in all its activities. Applications to join are welcome, in particular from professional conference interpreters with an academic qualification and students currently working towards this qualification. We are looking forward to a message from you.
